The Easiest Paper Rope Bag Recipe That Doesn’t Hurt Your Hands – How to Make a Straw Bag?
WELCOME to the paper string section of our series on the Recipe Fairies Blog !
If you've ever tried to knit with paper yarn, you know how difficult it is. I've come up with a recipe that deserves the title "Hands-Free"!
We will knit a casual shoulder bag without hurting the hands. The two most important tips are: the first is to use a thick crochet hook, the second is to knit with the triple crochet technique...
We designed this model together with a customer. I would like to express my gratitude from here.
Here is our casual bag that doesn't hurt your hands or tire your mind!
Materials
- A skein of paper string
- Crochet hook size 5
Bag Dimensions
- Body length: 32 cm width: 40 cm
- Hanger height: 35 cm
- Total bag length: 67cm
Well then, let's get started right away!
Paper Rope Bag Recipe
Row 1: Let's make a magic ring. Let's make 4 chains. This will be our first double crochet. Let's make 15 triple double crochets. Let's join the 4 chains we made at the beginning with a slip stitch on top. = 16 stitches
Important Note: We start each row with 4 chains. We make a slip stitch at the end of the row.
Row 2: We increase the number of stitches by making 2 triple crochets in each stitch = 32 stitches
Row 3: Let's make one crochet in the first stitch, two crochets in the next stitch and repeat until the end of the row = 48 stitches
Row 4: Let's make one crochet in the first two stitches, two crochets in the next stitch, and repeat until the end of the row = 64 stitches
Row 5: Let's make one crochet in the first three stitches, two crochets in the next stitch and repeat until the end of the row = 80 stitches
6-7th Row: Knit two rows without increasing = 80 stitches
Row 8: Let's make one crochet in each of the first four stitches, two crochets in the next stitch, and repeat until the end of the row = 96 stitches
Row 9-12: Knit four rows without increasing = 96 stitches
Row 13: We make a decrease by taking one stitch in each of the first four stitches and the next two stitches together. Let's repeat until the end of the row = 80 stitches
Hanger Part
We're starting the strap of our bag without cutting our yarn. We'll knit to the middle, cut the yarn, and knit the other side of the strap from the opposite side. We'll sew it in the middle.
Row 14: Let's make four chains and make a triple crochet in the next 20 stitches = 21 stitches
Row 15-17: Knit three rows without increasing = 21 stitches
Row 18: Let's decrease 3 stitches at the beginning, middle and end. So let's repeat this: 1 decrease, 7 treble crochets, 1 decrease, 8 treble crochets, 1 decrease = 18 stitches
Row 19: Knit without increasing = 18 stitches
Row 20: Decrease 3 stitches at the beginning, middle and end = 15 stitches
Row 21: Knit without increasing = 15 stitches
Row 22: Decrease 3 stitches at the beginning, middle and end = 12 stitches
23rd Row: Knit without increasing = 12 stitches
24th Row: Decrease 3 stitches at the beginning, middle and end = 9 stitches
Row 25-28: Knit for four rows without increasing = 9 stitches
Let's knit a strap from the other side in the same way and sew it in the middle with a needle. Once we add the lining and buttons, it's done! 🥳
We sew the button in the middle as in the photo. Since our loops are perforated, they can be buttoned easily.
Our old logo in the photo... I didn't want to change it because I loved it so much. <3
The lining needs to be sewn one row down. The button will be on the first row. I had it sewn by a tailor. You can also get help from a tailor after knitting.
Here is the side view of our bag:
Afterwards, I also knitted the Black&Cream color of this model.
