- 3 mm crochet hook
Abbreviations
- ZN: Chain
- DC: Double Railing
- HDC: Half Railing
- CC: Slip Stitch
Measurement Information
- Width: 30 cm
- Height: 33 cm
- Depth: 10 cm
- Strap Length: 30 cm
Bag Base
- You can find the article about how I made the base of my bag here: Rectangular Bag Base Recipe
- We will create the perforated form by using the double crochet and chain stitch methods in the body part. We will knit double crochets on the side parts without creating holes.
- At the end of the row, we will make a slip stitch and proceed by making three chains.
- In the last two rows we will use half handrails to tighten the mouth part.
- We will continue with double handrails in the hanging section.
- The dimensions of our bag may vary depending on the yarn, crochet hook and how firm our hands are. I left the dimensions of the bag I knitted below.
If we're ready, let's move on to the recipe!
Knitted Net Tote Bag Recipe
Row 1: After finishing our base, let's make 3 chains. In the meantime, we will work on the back wings of the loops. We will make DC to the back wing of 14 single crochets. This will be the side of our bag. Let's make 1 chain, skip a loop and DC to the second one. We have created our first hole! Let's make 1 chain, skip a loop, go to the other side of the bag in the form of 1 DC. Let's make 14 DC without leaving a gap and let's make 1 chain , skip a loop, go to the other side of the bag in the form of 1 DC. Let's complete our first row by making a slip stitch to the top of the DC we made at the beginning.
Row 2-35: We start a new row with 3 ch. We do not work on the back wings. We can continue until our bag reaches the desired size by applying the process in the first row. I preferred to make 35 rows. In short: 3 ch, 14 DC, to the other short edge (1 ch, skip a stitch, 1 DC), 14 DC, to the other short edge (1 ch, skip a stitch, 1 DC), cc.
Last 2 Rows: Time to tighten the mouth with HDCs. 2 ch, 14 HDC, HDC to both the top of the double crochets and in the chain spaces in the perforated part, 14 HDC, HDC to both the top of the double crochets and in the chain spaces in the perforated part, cc.
The body of our bag is ready and on its hanger.
Hangers
We will make 2 hangers and sew them to the last row of our bag.
Row 1: 8 ch, skip two chains, 6 DC
2-... Row: 2 ch, turn, knit 6 DC until we reach the desired length. I made it 30 cm long.
You can knit and add any motif you want. I used rainbow and ice cream. I learned the recipe for these colorful motifs from Pinterest. I'm adding the links for you.

If you wish, you can add a lining or a bag inside, but I think that just having a net inside fits the summer spirit very well. It also looks like this when we put a book in it.
I knitted this bag in a lavender themed color using a thicker polyester macrame yarn. You can knit bags with different themes using the same measurements.
